For Christmas, I received a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens to go with my Nikon D40. It requires manual focus (with my cam) and so I have been practicing and practicing to get that focus as sharp as possible. Here are a few pics practicing that sharpness, and also playing with Manual mode.

Nice DOF on these--you've done well with the manual focus. Love the ducky shot--there's a whole story in that one.
I like the last one the best - great DOF! But - you gotta love any photo with Little People in it, right? :)

The ducky one is my favorite though, totally great use of DOF.
I think the profile photo could have been a little more in focus, perhaps bumping up the shutter speed and dropping the Fstop or bumping up the ISO as well as the shutter speed. Still a really nice shot though.
